Missions

The Missions Committee works to call attention to the needs of others in our local community and throughout the world. The committee uses monies provided through the General Fund as well as donations from members of the congregation to support various mission projects. In addition, the committee helps organize or monetarily support mission trips of our congregation and others with need.   Each month we have a different mission focus.  We work to  provide information to the congregation about the project and ensure donations are used for the works they were intended.  Our congregational monies and efforts have been disbursed in the following ways: Native American Ministries, UMCOR, UMC Students, World Missionaries, Senior High Youth Trips and Missions, Heifer Project, Food Resource Bank, Emmaus House, Prison Ministries, Yankton County Contact Center, Sack n Pack Program, Sunday School, Big Friend Little Friend, Flood Relief to Japan, Yankton County Parents as Teachers Program.  In addition to these donations, our committee helps organize The Banquet three times each year, works with the Evangelism committee to visit and reach potential members in our community and also hosts a visit of the Bike and Build group each summer.  Our pastor also has access to a discretionary fund within our budget which is used to support congregational or community members that are in need.
